About Us

Living in Port Townsend and traveling around the Peninsula and to the various islands, we became impressed with the number, and the quality, of the locally produced goods. Attending the Farmers' Markets and shopping the Co-ops confirmed the feeling that the area was “bigger” than it at first appeared. Of course, we also had to try all of the wines, ciders, and beers of the area. We also began experimenting with the fresh seafood and produce of the Rain Shadow. Everything was sooo good!

We noticed that travelers in the area also got caught up in the “sense of place” that they experienced vacationing on the Peninsula and in the Islands. Having enjoyed the fruits of the North Olympic rain shadow for a number of years ourselves, we hit upon the realization that many travelers wanted to take that experience home with them.  We also realized that every other person we met in town was an artist of some sort: writer, poet, sculptor, painter, photographer, woodworker. Plays, poetry readings, book signings, and gallery walks were regular activities. We suspected that visitors might like to carry those artistic experiences home with them, or give them as gifts,  as well.  Then came a really big realization:  people who live in the area, like ourselves, also want to share the bounty with their friends and family scattered about the country. So we formed Mystery Bay Shipping Company to make that possible.

We have developed an array of baskets containing unique, interesting, and delicious local products. We design each basket to include items that work well together - built around a central theme. We hope to eventually make the baskets available locally in a retail setting. In the meantime, we will gladly ship them anywhere in the country for you to enjoy when you get home – or to share with your sweetie, your friends, family, customers, and colleagues.
