The Silverwater Café was established in 1989. We started as a little café with a staff of ten. Our business has gradually grown over the years, and we find ourselves now housed in our own building, with a staff of up to 55 in the busy season. Many of the staff members have been with us from the beginning, continually raising the levels of experience and dedication. We have catered over a hundred weddings, dozens of private parties and office parties. Anniversaries, graduations, engagements, retirements, holidays... we have done them all.
We love what we do. We strive to continue to perfect our craft, bringing inspiration to one another on a daily basis, so that we can incorporate it into our work, and, ultimately, to you. We believe that life is about good food and good friends.
The restaurant is owned by Alison Hero and David Hero. Alison has been cooking professionally since she was 12. She oversees the kitchen, and the production for catering. David is the lead baker, baking all of the wedding cakes and desserts for the restaurant. Our first cookbook, "Golden Moments at the Silverwater Café" was published in 1999. It contains over 125 of our most popular recipes, plus many entertaining stories about the staff and customers over the years. It is a bit of a scratch book, as well as a cookbook.
We also carry a line of spice blends. Originally developed for use in our kitchen, by popular demand we now sell them retail.
